The Framework
MABERT
A framework for integrated human development.
01What MABERT Is
One framework for change across the whole person.
MABERT is the Institute's developing framework for understanding and supporting change across the emotional, behavioural, physiological and relational dimensions of human experience. It is grounded in decades of applied practice and is now being formalised into a structured model for research, measurement and education.
It formalises a single observation, repeated across three decades of practice: people do not present with isolated problems. Emotion, behaviour, physiology and relationships move together. A model that treats them separately treats none of them well.
02Six Connected Capacities
What the framework examines.
MABERT studies six human capacities not as a checklist, but as a connected sequence in which each supports the next.
Awareness
Recognising internal states, patterns and experience.
Understanding
Making sense of the behaviours, beliefs and conditions shaping those patterns.
Regulation
Developing the capacity to return the body and mind to stability.
Resilience
Increasing the ability to adapt, recover and remain present through difficulty.
Transformation
Turning insight and practice into durable behavioural and personal change.
Fulfilment
Living with greater coherence across values, relationships, purpose and action.
03Domains of Application
One framework, five points of entry.
The same framework is delivered through five structured domains: different presenting needs, consistent underlying method.
- 01
Relationship Renewal
Connection, communication and repair.
- 02
Trauma Recovery & Resilience
Processing adverse experience; restoring baseline.
- 03
Emotional Resilience
Anxiety, stress and everyday regulation.
- 04
CST Foundations
Body-based support for pain and nervous-system rest.
- 05
Corporate Wellbeing
Burnout, performance and psychological safety at work.
04Why It Matters
An explicit model can be studied. A repeatable method can be taught.
Because MABERT's capacities are named, they can be assessed. Because its delivery is structured, it can be taught to others with fidelity. That combination is what allows the Institute to move from founder-led practice toward a body of evidence and a trained profession.
It is also what makes MABERT a research instrument, not only a method of care. See the research programme.
